PL2013_Week04
Here's a peek at Week 4.
Starting to go back and add more hand-written journaling. (Not photographed.)
Recently discovered the option to EXPORT as a JPG - directly out of InDesign. (Previously, I had been exporting them as a PDF and them turning that PDF into JPG files in Photoshop. AWESOME discovery! Wondering... how could I have missed this feature for so long? Silly me.)

PL2013_Week03
Here's a peek at my Week 3.
Recently, I had to flip back through my previous Project Life albums (in search of something) and really admired my previous use of my own handwriting and journaling cards. It seems that last year, I got away from that more... as I was pretty photo heavy and did a lot of my journaling right on the photos.
So, you may have noticed, I am leaving my journaling cards blank for now (and will hand write them when I place the printed pics into my album.)
I also admired my Week in Review cards where my own handwriting was documented.
THAT is the beauty if Project Life; I can make it work FOR ME!
Right now, I am loving the fonts Frutiger and Cheltenham. (Last year, I used a lot of IMPACT for headings and American Typewriter for journaling.) I really like that I can mix it up to suite MY NEEDS.
I am liking that I include (somewhere... pics or journaling) what I am reading. I've also been saving receipts to document what we are paying for a gallon of milk and a gallon of gas; I think I will enjoy looking back on those items someday and saying "I remember when we paid... x for such-n-such."
(I have NOT had my prints made from Walgreens yet for this week. It seems like they offer deals if I print 50 pics at once. Stalling...)

PL2013_Week02
Here's a peek at my Week 2 spread, created in InDesign. When I trim the 3x4's apart and assemble them into my album, they will (likely) go in a more chronological order. Saved 2 spaces for handwritten journaling or receipts, etc.
Oddly enough... my "weekend fun" on Sunday looks an awful lot like my ordinary weekdays. We do A LOT of laundry here, I'm afraid. (Thankfully, we have a front-loading HE washer and dryer; I'd like to believe that those help!)
The boys thought it was fun to DRAW our dinner plans. (It worked great to kill the time while we waited for our food to cook and was rather entertaining.)
Fonts used: Frutiger AND Cheltenham.

PL2013_Week 01
It was LOVELY that 2012 started on a Sunday... and that I ran my 2012 album from Sunday through Saturday. Sometimes, I pondered IF it would be better to have the entire weekend together, running Monday through Sunday, but it really DID work for me. This year, I am STUCK, STUCK, STUCK as to how to END 2012 and how to BEGIN 2013.
Therefore, I think that I will duplicate this spread in BOTH albums, but I haven't decided 100% yet.
I created my pages in Adobe InDesign. I have left spaces for 4 hand-written journaling cards to go into my album.
Wrapping up the last few weeks of 2012, I noticed that the only pictures that I was in were pictures of my feet wearing cute socks. I made a point of declaring that I need to take more self-portraits AND use the self-timer on our camera so that I am in pictures, too. (That worked pretty well for this week, I'd say.) PLUS hubby grabbed the camera for me once or twice; thank you, honey!
My favorite picture for this week is 1.1.13:
In detail:
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR.
(SMARTASS screened lightly in the background behind that.)
Saw that Mike had the box for his Preparation-H sitting in the bathroom so, I asked him "Are you saving this or do you want it put somewhere special?"
His immediate response: I was saving it FOR YOU - to put in your little (Project Life) book.
For the record: He DID move the empty boxes to the recycle bin, but I dug them out for this picture - since he was being so sassy and smart. :)

New Beginnings... YEAR 3 of Project Life
2013 starts my THIRD YEAR of documenting Project Life.
I design my images in Adobe InDesign on an iMac computer. (In my past life, once upon a time... I was a graphic designer. If only I had gotten into it BEFORE the advent of web design; SIGH.)
I often design as a weekly spread, and later copy & paste them into a 6x4 layout that eventually gets exported as PDFs. I save those PDFs as JPG files in Photoshop CS3 and upload them to Walgreens.com for printing, often taking advantage of a 40% OFF coupon or some sort of sale.
I use Design A almost exclusively. However, I have purchased A LOT of other designs and HOPE to include some of those into my latest album.
I use almost NO journaling cards. I often document directly on my photos in InDesign and I like that A LOT. I have MY OWN HANDWRITING font on my computer and sometimes use that in my layouts, tweaking the kerning as needed.
I take A LOT of pictures! (Last year alone, I imported 8699 photos into iPhoto.)
I haven't committed to a specific set of fonts (yet). I prefer condensed fonts because I like them tall & skinny.
Some of my favorite fonts to use are:

Growing up, my mom took most of the photos; therefore, SHE isn't in very many. I am making a point of using my self-timer so that I can be IN the photos from time-to-time, too. Also, my husband will sometimes grab the camera and take a picture of the boys and I interacting together. I also LOVE to use our timer to take a Family of 4 (4G) group shot. (We TRY to do this monthly.)
I've used a Canon Rebel T1i since December 2010 and WE LOVE IT!
In photography, I admire the everyday life approach of Ali Edwards.
I look forward to blogging our Project Life!
